"I’d read about EVLT in a women’s magazine. I had suffered from a varicose vein in my leg for some time. It was both unsightly and on occasions very painful, but I really didn’t want to endure the traditional surgery, which involved stripping the vein."

"The entire EVLT operation was completed in about half an hour. I walked out of the operating theatre. They gave me painkillers to take home but I didn’t require them. "Many years ago I had surgical stripping - the old operation for varicose veins. It was very painful and I was off work for several weeks. Over the years another varicose vein developed on my other leg. My GP referred me to Stephen Kettlewell at Ross Hall Hospital. I had local anaesthetic and then, apart from some mild heat on my skin when the laser was applied, there was little pain. I was in and out in an hour and back to work the next day. I had to wear support stockings for two weeks and walk every day. I'm very pleased with my leg and I would recommend it!"
